SOCAR AQS Successfully Completes Drilling and Completion Operations for Another Well at the Bulla Field

SOCAR AQS has successfully completed another major project at the Bulla gas-condensate field. The Company has completed the drilling and completion of HPHT deviated production Well No. 118, drilled from Platform No. 6.

Discovered in 1975, the Bulla field is one of Azerbaijan's strategically important gas-condensate fields located in the Baku Archipelago. The project was implemented to further evaluate the field's gas reserves and bring a new gas-condensate well into production.

As part of the project, drilling operations on deviated production well No. 118 were successfully completed to a depth of 5,800 meters on a turnkey basis. Subsequently, the 5.5 × 7 production liner was run, successfully pressure-tested, and handed over to the client, SOCAR's Azneft Production Union.

Samir Mollayev, General director of SOCAR AQS, said: “Despite the complex geological characteristics of the Bulla field and the technical challenges encountered at various depths during the drilling process, we successfully executed the project safely, to a high standard of quality, and in full compliance with international standards. This achievement is the result of effective collaboration with our client and contractor partners, the professionalism of our team, and timely engineering decisions.”

Following the successful completion of the drilling phase, well completion operations were finalized ahead of schedule through professional engineering, effective planning, and close collaboration among all stakeholders, working as one team and without any non-productive time. Perforation operations were successfully carried out, and the well was brought into production with a high flow rate.

One of the project's key achievements was the optimization of the well completion design and operational procedures. As a result, a downhole pressure and temperature gauge was installed for the first time in the history of Azneft and the Narimanov Oil and Gas Production Department (NQÇİ), enabling continuous monitoring of bottomhole pressure and temperature. This solution represents a significant advancement in production monitoring and more efficient well management.

SOCAR AQS expresses its sincere appreciation to the client, Azneft Production Union, as well as to all contractor partners and every employee whose dedication and contribution played a role in the successful delivery of this project.

The successful completion of this project at the Bulla field once again demonstrates SOCAR AQS's capability to deliver safe, efficient, and innovative drilling and well completion solutions in complex geological environments. The Company remains committed to contributing to the continued development of Azerbaijan's energy sector through future projects.
