Board of Directors

Rune Lorentzen is a member of the Board of Directors of SOCAR AQS.

Mr. Lorentzen with over 42 years of experience in the oil and gas industry started his career in 1978 with Sedco Drilling and moved to Smedvig Drilling in 1979, where he worked in various offshore positions from Assistant Driller to Rig Manager.

Rune Lorentzen has held a number of leadership positions over the years.In 2004, he relocated to Azerbaijan and worked as Drilling Operations Manager for Lukoil. Then later he joined KCA Deutag in 2005 as Operations Manager and in 2007 he was appointed Regional Manager for Azerbaijan. In 2009, he was appointed General Manager of the Northern Platforms and then President of the Offshore Division in 2013, responsible for all of the platform's drilling operations as well as managing the KCA Deutag jackup rigs.

Mr. Lorentzen participated in the construction and commissioning of new rigs for BP super-giant fields in Caspian Sea at Azeri Chirag Guneshli (ACG) and ShaDeniz, which was one of the largest projects implemented in the industry in such a short period.

He also played a leading role in localization process in Republic of Azerbaijan, establishing Turan Drilling and Engineering LLC and concluding the 7 rigs Turan Drilling and Engineering contract with BP.

Mr. Lorentzen holds a degree in Drilling Engineering from Petroleum Training Institute in Stavanger.
